Handoff notifications

When on-call shifts change, Batida sends automated notifications to ensure a smooth transition between responders.

Shift handoff messages

When a rotation shift ends and the next responder takes over, Batida sends a handoff message to the rotation channel containing:

  • Outgoing and incoming responder names and Slack mentions
  • Shift summary -- resolved count, active incidents, critical count, average MTTR
  • Active incident list -- titles, severities, and links for any open incidents

Shift start reminders

15 minutes before a shift begins, the incoming responder receives a DM with:

  • Schedule name and shift time window (start → end, duration)
  • Count of active incidents requiring attention
  • Link to the incidents dashboard

Commander assignment

When an incident is opened and has a linked schedule, Batida automatically assigns the current on-call responder as Commander. The assigned user receives a DM with:

  • Incident title, severity, and type
  • "View Incident" button linking to the incident page

Rotation channel notifications

When an incident is opened with a linked schedule, Batida posts a notification to the schedule's rotation channel (configured in chat settings). This message includes:

  • Incident title, severity, and ID
  • Assigned on-call responders (if any)
  • Link to view the incident

Escalation handoffs

When an alert is escalated, the target responder receives a DM with:

  • Alert ID and escalation level
  • Incident details (title, severity, status)
  • Time since alert was triggered and SLA target response time
  • "View Incident" button
